Toowoomba Live Steamers Miniature Railway relocation proposal

Consultation on this project has concluded. Updates to the relocation process will be provided via our website and through media and social media.

The Toowoomba Live Steamers Miniature Railway has provided a fun, family friendly experience to the Toowoomba region since 1996 from Kearneys Spring Park in Kearneys Spring.

The group have been experiencing some adverse effects from the resident flying fox colony in the park. Efforts were made to relocate the flying fox colony however this was unsuccessful.

A number of alternative locations were evaluated by Council in conjunction with the Toowoomba Live Steamers Miniature Railway Group.

A potentially suitable location was found in Lemway Avenue Park, and Council voted in May to consider providing assistance in relocating the Live Steamers to this park after consulting with residents about the move.

Consultation with residents in the Lemway Avenue Park area was conducted in July to gauge any issues or opportunities arising from the potential relocation of the Live Steamers to this park.

The consultation process involved household visits to residents in the direct vicinity of the western side of Lemway Avenue Park where the miniature railway location would be, and a mail out to residents in the Kearneys Spring area with the details of an online survey.

Feedback received during the consultation period was presented to Council in early September. A decision was made at this Council meeting to relocate the Toowoomba Live Steamers Miniature Railway to Lemway Avenue Park, taking into consideration traffic and parking implications as part of the detailed planning process.

Further information about the relocation process will be communicated to nearby residents in the coming months.

A copy of the map outlining the proposed location of the miniature railway can be found in the documents section of this page.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Council on 131 872.
