Toowoomba Live Steamers Miniature Railway relocation proposal

For more than two decades, Toowoomba Live Steamers Miniature Railway has provided a fun, family-friendly recreational experience to the Toowoomba Region. The popular attraction has recently relocated to Lemway Avenue Park in Kearneys Spring. This move was prompted by community concerns around a flying fox colony roosting at Kearneys Spring Historical Park - the Live Steamer’s previous location.

Join us on Sunday 15 October at 11am at Lemway Avenue Park to cheer on the Live Streamers as they make their first journey in their new home! Live Steamers will continue to run on the 3rd Sunday of each month.

Community consultation

During early 2015 Council in conjunction with the Toowoomba Live Steamers Miniature Railway Group made a recommendation to relocate the Live Steamers to Lemway Avenue Park due to community concerns around a flying fox colony in Kearneys Spring Historical Park.

Kearneys Springs residents were invited to have their say on a proposal to relocate the Live Steamers to Lemway Avenue Park through one-one-one meetings and an online survey in July 2015. Consultation feedback indicated a preference for relocating the Live Steamers to Lemway Avenue Park.

The relocation was approved by Council during September 2015. Construction to design a new track layout, station and clubhouse buildings commenced in 2016 and was completed in 2017.
