Council’s goal is to create a positive relationship between people, dogs and public places in our Region.
We understand that people have different levels of interest and connection with dogs. For many people dogs are part of the family and join their owners in a range of outdoor activities. Others may not have a dog of their own but still enjoy being around dogs in shared open spaces like parks and dog-off leash areas. Some people prefer to spend time in places that are dog free and value the provision of space for the protection of wildlife.
We asked the community to have their say on dogs in outdoor public places by completing a survey during June 2021. We had a fantastic response with over 600 people providing feedback. Survey results are available below (click to download).
Community feedback will be used to help achieve Council’s goal of creating a positive relationship between people, dogs and outdoor places.
