Background

Toowoomba Regional Council is committed to delivering and maintaining safe, connected and attractive walking and cycling networks and facilities that are useable by a broad range of people to support active and healthy lifestyles (Toowoomba Region Sustainable Transport Strategy).

Council has been successful in securing Queensland Government funding to undertake a cycleway options analysis for Taylor Street between Tor Street and West Creek, creating a key link for residential suburbs of Toowoomba (especially Newtown and Wilsonton) and the City Centre.

The Newtown to City Centre Active Transport planning project will look at a number of active transport route options developed for a critical east-west corridor and consider alignment options for a north-south corridor, which will connect to the preferred east-west alignment.

The project is proudly supported by the Queensland Government's Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program.

There will be an opportunity for further consultation on the draft concept design with further information to be provided closer to the date.

Detailed design and construction phases will be subject to available funding.

Feedback on the route options will open 9:00am on Monday, 4 August 2025.

Phase 1 - Survey

Phase 1 of the project is seeking feedback as part of the route options analysis to help guide the development of a concept design (Phase 2).
