Christmas Spirit Hits Clifton and Cambooya Areas

11 December 2017

Christmas spirit is alive and well with the completion of community Christmas events held across the Cambooya and Clifton areas recently.

The Greenmount Twilight Markets were well supported by locals and visitors alike. Hundreds of people attended the annual event enjoying the markets and children’s activities.

On December 1 the Nobby Heritage Association kicked off the festive season with the successful running of the Nobby Christmas Carols.

The Hodgson Vale Sporting Club also hosted their local event on December 1 with approximately 170 residents attending, as well as Santa who arrived in style on a Harley Davidson.

The Cambooya Carols event, which was run by the combined churches, had everyone singing traditional carols and a performance from local children acting out the modern take on the nativity scene. The children’s participation found the stage almost overflowing with angels, shepherds ,and of course Three Wise Men and Mary and Joseph. There was a free dinner supplied to the 80+ people that attended (thanks to the Toowoomba Regional Council). The organisers of the event were thrilled with the outcome and the electronic candles certainly set the atmosphere for a festive vibe.

Clifton wrapped up the community Christmas events with their Clifton Christmas Street Party. Residents enjoyed the carols, live entertainment and face painting while ticking off the gift list at all the local market stalls. Well done to the Clifton Progress Association on another magical event.
