On Wednesday 18 June, a special morning tea was held to celebrate the opening of the new kitchen in the Queensland Country Women’s Goombungee Branch Hall.

In attendance were Member for Condamine Pat Weir MP, Cr Bill Cahill, dignitaries, branch members, friends and supporters of the QCWA.

The kitchen had been put to use very early that morning to supply all those in attendance with the most delicious array of scones: pumpkin, date, sultana, plain and gluten free. The best scones in Queensland, no disrespect to Lady Flo. The QCWA Goombungee branch received funding from the Community Gambling Fund grant to complete their kitchen. They are an active and vibrant group who do much to support their immediate and wider community.
