Have Your Say: Proposed Renaming Section of Prince Henry Drive Park
Council has received a request to rename a small section of bushland within Prince Henry Drive Park to Dr John Swarbrick Park.
Dr Swarbrick was a long-term resident of Prince Henry Heights and an Associate Professor at the University of Gatton, specialising in weed management. He was a passionate advocate for environmental restoration, particularly through the control and elimination of invasive weed species. Over the past 40 years, Dr Swarbrick made a lasting impact on the restoration of Toowoomba's bushland, beginning with this very area along Prince Henry Drive.
In recognition of his contributions, it has been proposed that a section of Prince Henry Drive Park be named Dr John Swarbrick Park.
The map below identifies the portion of bushland within the park that is subject to the renaming proposal.

In accordance with Council’s adopted 7.21 Naming/Renaming of Parks and Park Infrastructure Policy, all renaming requests are subject to formal assessment.
As part of this process, we invited community feedback on the proposed renaming from Monday 21 July to Friday 15 August 2025.
Feedback is currently being reviewed and will be considered by Council before a final decision is made.
The outcome will be shared on this page in the coming months so please stay tuned.
