Draft strategy consultation closed
Consultation on the draft strategy has now closed and Council would like to thank all the community members and organisations who provided feedback.
Community feedback will be used to guide the development of the final Road Safety Strategy 2024-2028 which will be presented to Council for endorsement in late 2024.
Background
With a network of more than 7700 kilometres of sealed and unsealed roads, the safety and wellbeing of all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorists is a top priority for Council.
Loss of life and serious injuries from road crashes has a devastating impact on our community.
Council is working towards a vision of zero road deaths and serious injuries within our Region.
The Toowoomba Region Road Safety Strategy 2024-2028 outlines Council’s commitment to significantly reducing road trauma across the Region by 2028.
The draft strategy consists of a
framework for Council, its key road safety stakeholders and the broader
community to work on this vision together. It proposes meeting our Region's road safety objectives through:
- improving the road environment
- influencing responsible driver and other road users' behaviour through infrastructure
- enhancing safety and accessibility for all users
- providing a well-maintained road network
- supporting and advocating for road safety.
