Moving in the right direction

Our Region is transforming. The population is growing and new technologies are changing the way we live, work and connect. We need to balance these changes without losing the lifestyle that makes our Region great.

Thank you to everyone who attended the forum on Saturday 16 November. We were delighted with the level of community support and the valuable discussion had on the day.

The forum featured presentations from local and international speakers including Herbert Tiemens, the Netherlands – Dutch Cycling Embassy (via Zoom); Dr Rodney Tolley, North America - Walk21 (via Zoom); Greg Vann, Brisbane - Ethos Urban; Dr Jenny Olson, Perth – Curtin University (via Zoom) and Jerryn Zwart, Brisbane - Zwart Transport Planning.

Key areas of interest which emerged throughout the event included support for:

  • more trees and green spaces
  • more walkable environments
  • safer and easier cycling
  • lower vehicle speeds
  • more recreational trails
  • better planning around urban living.
