Water and waste management - community engagement

Our region has bold ambitions for growth and prosperity, but we also need to care about our environment. We are all consumers and generators of waste which means we all have responsibilities to manage waste.

Council has a legislative requirement to review and update its waste strategy periodically. The Toowoomba Region Draft Waste Management Strategy 2017 (DWMS) addresses the management of priority wastes, as required under Queensland’s Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011.

We are at the beginning of something BIG! What kind of future do you want to create for our community?

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback

Did you know we also offer FREE MULCH to our residents? We'd love to hear your thoughts and invite you to complete our mulch survey and tell us how you find the quality of the product, how you load it and when you collect it.

Feel free to email us on engagement@tr.qld.gov.au if you have any questions on our water and waste management,

  • One of the major waste streams we manage in our region is garden waste. This is currently processed into a ‘mulch’ and made available to domestic customers.

We'd like to hear your views on the garden waste mulch product, particularly around quality, loading and times of access. We know there may be opportunities to change the current product/service to add value for customers and this may include a different cost structure for different levels of product/service.
