What is happening?

In early 2026, Council will be delivering important changes to Highfields Road in Highfields to improve safety, traffic flow and connections for everyone.

These major upgrades will enhance the amenity of the area, support the continued growth of the Highfields commercial area and align with the Central Highfields Masterplan.

The project includes

  • Upgrading the road network in central Highfields including construction of four new roundabouts along Highfields Road at Kratzke Road / O’Brien Road, Lauder Drive and Rogers Drive;
  • Realigning Kratzke and O'Brien roads
  • creating connected footpaths and shared paths along Highfields Road and at the upgraded intersections
  • Upgrading all underground utilities; and
  • Creating a landscaped street network that supports the future town centre.

These works are planned to be completed in early 2028.

    Council will continue working with Translink regarding bus services improvements over time.
